Prof. Dr. Horváth Zita

Prof. Dr. Zita Horváth was born in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary, on 17 June 1970. She completed her secondary education at the Zrínyi Miklós Secondary School in Zalaegerszeg and spent two years working at the Zala County Archives after graduation.

In 1997, she graduated from the University of Miskolc with an honours degree in History and Secondary School Teaching. She obtained her PhD in 2001 and completed her habilitation in 2016.

Progressing through the full academic career path, she advanced from Assistant Lecturer to Full Professor between 1999 and 2020. During this time, she held several leadership positions, including Head of Department, Vice Dean, Dean and Vice Rector. She also served for three years as Deputy State Secretary at the Hungarian Ministry of Innovation and Technology, at the invitation of Dr. László Palkovics.

Since 1 August 2020, she has served as Rector of the University of Miskolc.
